: (

So I am starting my last real week of work, because next week I leave for home. For this week i have been deployed yet again but this time its to the best resort on Disney property, the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. I am excited because this is the ultimate resort and it is so cool to say that i will be working there. Its sad because now i will have only 4 days left at the Polynesian. What is even more say is that i have to say goodbye to everyone because i leave next week. I really don't to leave because this has been the most amazing experience and i would really love to come back for a Professional Internship. Cast Members are slowly starting to pack up their belongings and everyone knows whats coming and doesn't want to talk about it. About a week ago we had a little graduation and we got a certificate and mouse ears from mickey and Minnie. I am leaving Disney World with two best friends and many more from around the world. I will be saying goodbye to the many accents i encountered each and everyday. One amazing thing i get to leave with is saying that during my internship i worked in 4 different resorts and one theme park.

Much to Catch Up On!!!

The last time I posted I was at Magic Kingdom working at the terrace noodle station. Well i finished up there and then was deployed yet again, but this time to a resort. Last week I worked at the Contemporary Resort in there Contempo Cafe. This place was more like the Polynesian which i was excited about. The Managers and other Cast members were extremely nice and welcoming, but i still could not use my Aloha greeting. Although they claimed they were very busy it was nothing to what i have experienced at the Polynesian in Captain Cooks. It was a fun week but i am glad its over because starting today i am finally back at the Polynesian. YES! After six weeks of being deployed i am finally back at my home resort and the feeling is wonderful. I was actually excited to go to costuming and get my ridiculously ugly costume.
So it has been 3 months that I have been in Florida part of the Disney College Program and i have met so many new and interesting people. I have experienced different cultures that i would have never found by just staying in Boston. I have one more month left here and i mean there are some negative aspects but I am so happy that i took the chance and don't regret a single moment of this experience. For all of you who are interested in the program just do it. I guarantee you will never find an internship opportunity like this. This internship has made me realize that this is what i really want to do with the rest of my life. I would love to come back and work for Disney. I am even thinking about maybe doing a Professional internship with them or maybe an alumni program during a summer. I am not sure yet but i do know that i want to return.

Star Of The Day

I finally finished my three weeks working at the All Star Music. It got better after getting used to the new atmosphere and I met many new people. This time I worked with many more college program students than I was used to at the Polynesian. I also ran into someone that i graduated high school with while i was working. He was enjoying his vacation while staying at All Star Music. My last day at the All Star, which was Saturday, I received Star of the Day for my outstanding work that i had been doing. With that i said goodbye to the All Star and started my new adventure at Magic Kingdom. I work in tomorrowland at the Noodle Terrace Station. I think its the most fun that I have so far working. There is so much guest interaction and i have met so many new people. The other day I was doing guest relations for the noodle station by working the coloring table and hula hooping with willing guests. There was a little girl who spoke almost no English but we still found a way to communicate and her parents couldn't get her to leave me because we were having so much fun. Seeing people so happy and getting to put a smile on a little crying boys face is an amazing feeling. Well its time for me to get some rest because with the beautiful weather brings lots of guests, so we are all experiencing 50 hour work weeks.

Sunshine State

The weather that us all College Program kids have been waiting for and is finally here. We all are trying to get as much sun as we can so people actually believe us when we say we have been here for two Months. I can't believe it either, this means I am at the halfway point in my program and i will be home in 2 months. I have made incredible friends and will be sad when i don't get to see them everyday. But as you might know I have been working at the All-Star music for almost 3 weeks now. It is massive compared to the Polynesian and it is so different. It has its good and bad points and it was hard being thrown into it with little guidance. The place needs getting used to and its good but I still love the Polynesian more. This will be my last week at the All Star Music and next week starts a new adventure. Sadly I will not be going back to the Polynesian yet, but I have been Deployed to the Magic Kingdom. I will be selling food in tomorrowland. This means new people, new managers, and a new costume (not sure if i am excited about this, polyester isn't really my thing.) I feel like everything has been chaotic lately with spring break everyone has been working over 40 hours a week and many of us have been getting sick. Not used to the crazy hours and limited amount of sleep the doctors office has seen many college program students, I myself got a sinus infection. We are all adapting now and with the beautiful weather everyone is starting to feel a little bit better!

Sad News

It is not really all that sad but yesterday i found out I am being deployed. This happens to all Cast Members in Food and Beverage at some point. Deployment is when they move you temporarily to another place, it could last from one to five weeks. I am sad to say goodbye to my family at the Polynesian and I will miss it so much. Next Week i start working at the All Star Music resort, which will be a complete change. The all star resorts are massive so it will be a different atmosphere than the one i'm used to at the Polynesian. My managers are sad to see me go, but hopefully i will be back in a week.

Service Fanatic!

Last Week at work i think that everything that could of went wrong did. The computer system called mantra is where all our transactions are done for the restaurant. We do all sorts of transactions such as specific dining plans, room charges, credit card purchases, ect. I happened to be doing the register that day when the all the computer systems in the Polynesian went down including our Mantra computers. We had to do everything manually and tickets had to be run to the kitchen because we do everything electronically. To simplify the scenario everything was a mess. Some guests were patient and others were not. At the end of the day my manager pulled me into her office and let me know that she was so impressed with how i handled the situation and she presented me with a service Fanatic award for demonstrating all of the basics in a chaotic time. This award goes on my record and enters me into a drawing. Few college program people get something like this so it was good to know that my hard work hasn't gone unnoticed. Now all we need is for the weather to warm up. It has been only 50 degrees here and it is fueling my cold.

Sorry for the gaps between blogs, Disney is sure keeping me busy. Life at the Polynesian is pretty amazing. I have been off training for a while so things are starting to fall into a routine. Everyday i meet people from all over the country and hear different accents. I make sure that every time i see someone in red sox attire i say something to them and we get into a conversation about where i am from and they congratulate me on coming to Florida. Since I have been working at the Polynesian two people looked at my name tag and actually knew about Fisher College and where it was located. This still amazes me because most people that are from Boston have never heard of it. At work we are now preparing for the large conventions that are coming to the Polynesian. Every Thursday for a month we are expecting 300 people from and insurance company that have special meal vouchers. We are learning some new systems that will be set into place for the large number of guests. The kids are probably the best part of the job, when you start talking to them about characters they get so excited and their face lights up and they tell you who they met and they go on and on. Finally the parent has to drag them away, its so funny. Tomorrow is grocery bingo for the college program kids, I am hoping to win because i am running low on food. I have to go because tonight i am spending Valentines Day with my roommates...we are going to the movies :)
